Ballet on St Paul (Retelling the story of St.Paul in Indian Context)

“Wow to me, if I do not proclaim the Gospel” (I Cor 9:16)
Being the Pauline year Kaladarshini brought out the ballet on St Paul (Retelling the story of St.Paul in Indian Context). In this we highlighted the conversion, ministry and martyrdom of St.Paul. Whole ballet was performed with student artists of Kaladarshini. It was wonderful exposure to our students to exhibit their arts of dancing and acting. Fr.P.R.John too exhibited his skill by performing the main character of St.Paul. Around 600 religious and laity watched and took the message to their homes.
The chief gusets of this function were Rev.Bishop Dr.Mallavarapu Prakash, Rev.Henry D’souza, Bishop of Bellary, Rev.Bishop D.M.Prakasam, senior journalist Mr.C.Raghavachari and other church representatives of CSI, Salvation Army. All Bishops in their messages were all praises for the Jesuits for bringing out this ballet especially in Pauline year.
A lot of work underwent behind this wonderful ballet. Fr.P.R.John spent hours together with Writer Mr.Bandi Stanley, Choreographer Mr.Hemanth, and Composer Mr.Suryanarayana. On this occasion Sch.Clement prepared a meaningful Christmas crib. It was based on the theme “The King of Peace is Born” in the context of terrorism and violence in India.
Our troupe performed this ballet at Kethy Palli, Krishnapuram, Kurnool and Thadipathri. And recenly staged this ballad at Gunadala on 10th February.

తమసోమా జ్యోతిర్గమయా “Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya” (Retelling the story of Jesus in Indian context)

In year 2007 as part Semi Chritmas celebrations we staged a dance ballet titled “Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya” (Retelling the story of Jesus in Indian context) on 23rd of December. It was a master piece of Fr.John SJ. His hard labour, theological reflections and the spirit of inter religious dialogue brought out the best in him. It was performed with 50 student artists of kaladarshini. We are proud to say that they exhibited their professional skills of dancing and acting. Fr.John spent sleepless nights, toiled hard along with Mr.Ramesh Babu, Mr.HemanthKumar, Mr.Suryanayana, Mr.Prakash and Sch.Ravi and presented this memorable and thought provoking ballet.

Rev.Bishop Dr.Mallavarapu Prakash was the chief guest of the day. In his message, he was all praises for Fr. John and remarked that this ballet should be performed in other places of Andhra Pradesh. Sri Sri Sri Devanandagiri Swamy was another guest of the day. In his message he expressed that though we have different religions, we receive the light from the same source. Fr.Michael Amaladass, another delegate of the day added that Jesus the word made flesh brought joy and happiness. We are also called to share this good news with one another. It was a challenging experience Fr. John to potray Jesus in an Indian way like, Jesus the Dancer (Nataraja).
Though the audience came with idea of watching a normal play on Birth of Jesus, they were spell bounded by the universal thinking behind the ballet and carried the Christmas message with them. Frs.Dusi Ravi Shekar and Peram Peter and Sanjeevan scholastics also enacted in this ballet.
